Welcome Claire to the Herd!

Claire de Lumi
Tapioka was due on Thanksgiving. We had to wait another two weeks to meet this beautiful little girl. I can’t complain. She was worth the wait. Sired by our Champion grey herdsire and Shaquille son Fleecy Dale Luminescence, we decided to name her Claire de Lumi, loosely borrowed from “Clare de lune” which means Moonbeam in French. She was born the night after a full moon. There must be something to that…
Claire looks black when you first see her. Her blanket fleece is lovely. I had to blow dry it because she and Tapioka were sitting in the rain yesterday morning just after her birth when I saw them. As I dried the fleece, it looked dark brown (very dense with lots of crimp!). We won’t know her true color until more fleece starts to grow in. I’m betting on Bay Black. I must be getting more into the fiber side of the business too because as I was drying her, I kept daydreaming about what color yarn her fleece would make! Fun!

Adorable! Almost as cute as a baby goat! But of course, I’m biased!

She’s so cute! Her fleece sounds so luxurious in color and texture! I love her name, too.
