Just a little FYI...That's a nice video but pre-drafting alpaca isn't really necessary. Pre-drafting helps with compressed or difficult to draft fibers but alpaca is silky and slick. Thinned out, it's more difficult to support a hand spindle and can pull apart in drafting with a wheel. It's easier to spin in thicker strips (as first pulled from the batt) from the tip or in shorter lengths from the fold (folded over a finger and spun from the folded point). Have fun with spinning! Hi, love your fiber arts! What a great idea! I been out of commission. lol I love reading your post. I sure wish I could buy an Alpaca, Out of my Budget! lol I can dream. I do spin I have a great wheel, several antique wheels, an Ashford Elizabeth wheel and my husband made me an electric spinning wheel. I started spinning by using a hand spindle. It helps. Also if you ever sewn on an old treadle sewing machine that helps. I would love to come to your Day of Spinning! So fun! Hubby Road trip? Have a great time! I love your Alpacas!
