Fiber Arts Friday

Last weekend Fiber Artist Sherry Watkins of Frostglen Alpacas came to visit our farm to teach a spinning class. While she was here she showed up the joys of weaving with a triangle loom. Sherry pointed out that once you have lovely handspun yarn, a shawl made on a triangular loom is a great showcase for it!

That is a really cool loom; someone in my local art group mentioned something similar at the last meeting. It must be in the zeitgeist

These are talented people. There’s even a doll pattern for the inept knitter (no knitting) and inspiration galore. I think I’ll try the dishcloths.

What fun! I love weaving on a traingular loom, when my girls were about you daughter age, they wove a lap loom, then hubby made me a small traingular loom and they wove on it. Then on to a bigger loom. Such fun days. One of my girls crochet hats and felted them to sale, yes she sold more than me! I knitted mine. But everyone wants the child’s for they could not believe she made them. She loved to spin too. My other daughter, still weaves on the lap loom to make purses. She also makes brooms. I going to get out my spinning wheel sometimes this week, Hubby sheared one of our new sheep. The fiber feels so soft! One day I going to spin Alpaca! I keep saying it only going to happen when I own one. lol
