Girls Rule, Boys Drool

You Go GIRL!
Because it’s Indiana blogs, “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better” in the voice of Super Filly Rachel Alexandra. Well said.
After beating the boys yesterday, this gorgeous gal becomes the first female to win the Preakness in 85 years. Strong, confident, and imminently capable, Rachel Alexandra brought women and girls across America together. She affirmed what we already knew: We can do anything. For all the years of having our pigtails pulled, it’s nice to see a girl give the boys a taste of their own medicine. Delicious.
Rachel Alexandra’s Winning Run in the Preakness (video)
Rachel Alexandra’s new owner, Jess Jackson of Kendall Jackson wines, also owns super horse, Curlin. The thought of a Rachel Alexandra – Curlin cross sends shivers up the spine of die-hard racing fans. Talk about your Royal Family. America has always wanted one. Maybe this will be it. Hey, we can dream, right?
Rachel Alexandra is a heroine for the ages. You go girl!

Always gotta pick the filly (even if the odds pay diddly – tho’ I’m only making imaginary $2 bets!)

It was a spectacular race! It’s always too short. I think Mine That Bird will give her a run in the Belmont though, he was really coming on strong at the end. Amazing for being dead last in the beginning of the race. They are both quite amazing horses and I hope we get to see them again in the Belmont.

Thanks so much for posting this! I didn’t get to watch the race live due to my stepson’s wedding, and this was the first time I’ve gotten to see the replay. Wow, I still have chills running up my spine! Jess Jackson’s farm is just a few miles from us, so there’s been lots of talk about all of the excitement. I’m glad you’re a racing fan, too!

My dream would be crossing Rachel Alexandra with another Lane’s End stallion, Rock Hard Ten. I was a BIG fan of his (tall, dark and handsome — what’s not to love?) when he ran the Preakness. Too bad the Jockey Club doesn’t allow embryo transfers!

Thanks for your comments girls! Leigh, I agree the Belmont will be an awesome race with these two.
Lindy, glad I could post it. Can’t believe they live down the street from you. That’s amazing. It’s like you live in Hollywood for horses.
Kalin, if one of us owned her we could have fun for months trying to plan her breedings. Planning breedings is one of my favorite parts of breeding alpacas. It’s a combination of intelligence, statistics, art, intuition, and luck. Fascinating game, breeding. LOVE IT!
Carolyn, oh yeah, gotta bet on this girl!
