Alpaca Yarn Giveaway
For the Alpaca Bunny Smackdown, we are giving away a skein of white royal baby alpaca yarn. This yarn was home-grown on our farm. Made from the fiber of our alpacas, Earth Angel, who won a Blue Ribbon in the National Spin-off Competition, and her son, Bishop, who was a Champion herdsire. The skein is a natural white in color, 16 WPI. The skein is approximately 200 yds and weighs 4.0 oz.
Alpaca fiber is prized worldwide due to its luxurious fineness. Alpaca is very light, warm, and has a nice handle. Alpaca also lacks the lanolin that wool has, making it wearable for those allergic to wool. This yarn can also be purchased in our Etsy shop. This yarn Giveaway made possible by the alpacas at Fairhope Alpacas!
Win a Skein of Royal Baby Alpaca Yarn!
There are a total of 3 Ways to Enter to win, and everyone is eligible. You can enter as many ways as you like. Each method of entry = 1 entry into the contest. Here’s how:

What to do, what to do…ooh! I know! Oh, wait..I want…oh gee…
Do I HAS to choose??
Royal Alpaca…dear, dear….ahHA! I’d make a perfectly wonderful woven pillow cover to snuggle my face into while I read! With alpaca as warp and angora as co-weft, in a gorgeous twill…*sigh* Can I take a nap now?

I want to do a segment about your Alpacas in Alabama on my monthly TV spot (Good Day Alabama) in November. I would use this yarn to raise awareness that alpacas are in Alabama and how wonderful the yarn is, esp to those allergic to wool.

I would use this bright white alpaca yarn to make a knit beanie hat. I think I will embelish it with some beautiful bay black or true black needle felting. Would love to have it.

Actually, I would give this yarn to my friend Beth, who taught me to knit – and has a contact allergy to wool. (She was given a 10% wool blend yarn in a swap once, and ended up with blisters on her hands from it.)
Alpaca is her favorite fiber – and white is perfect, as she’s recently begun dyeing her own yarn. ♥

I actively pursue lovely goals I keep on a Life List. (I recently found out people call this a Bucket List but I prefer my name!) I have always wanted to learn how to knit a scarf. I have a couple friends to teach me, but this yarn would make it extra special. I do confess, I would definitely keep it for myself! Too beautiful to part with!

Lacy, lacy, lacy scarf/snood for my 84 year-old-mother with the lovely pure white hair. She’s still knitting, sewing, weaving, drawing like mad. Everywhere I go I bring her fiber since I visited Sweden 40 years ago and brought home weaving wool. She deserves alpaca for all the handwork she has taught me and made for me over the years. Yeah Mom! My hero. She taught me what “hand” means. Who could have a better Mom than that?

I never spun or knitted with Alpaca. I spun most every other fiber, or knitted or wove with it. One of my dreams is one day to own an Alpaca. I would love to win this skein. I would love to make a lacy scarf, or even a small shawl to keep me warm this winter, as I live in a 100 year old Bungalow and it gets really cold, heating with wood heater. How I love to be able to knit this fiber, before I off to surgery in mid- September. I can’t wait to fill how soft it shall be and warm it shall be. I just know I would fall in love with it. I wanted so much to visit your farm. I heard you were moving. I use to get newsletters from you, under the name Kathy. I enjoyed our chats. One day when I am well again, I hope to visit and touch the beautiful animals.

Since I’ve been the chilly cat lately, I think I’d make a lovely neck warmer — maybe with a touch of blue or pink silk yarn for accents. And any leftover will be used for accents on a kitty blanket, so kitty has something interesting to sniff and touch while waiting for a forever home. ^__^

Alpaca is my favorite fiber to knit with these days. Used to be a merino girl, but I got converted! This lovely, fine skein of creamy alpaca is making me think of creating a simple neck cowl with a flourish of lace at the edges. I love wearing cowls when the weather begins to turn and it’s not yet cold enough for the ‘big guns’ of heavy winterwear, but it’s cool enough that your fall sweaters feel inadequate. I tend to design my own & would be happy to share whatever pattern I devise with you, & if you like it, you can post it. Fingers crossed! I hope I’m the lucky one!
