Thirty Days of ___Blank? Farm version
It does take 30 days of doing something to make it a habit. I’m sure my parents will be proud that I learned something in 8 years of graduate school. Repeating a behavior over and over again tricks your brain into thinking that it has to do that same thing again. Think about the times when you drive home and you don’t remember the whole drive. You don’t have to think about every turn yet you make to your house. Your brain and body have a memory for it, and they can be put on a sort of autopilot to get the job done. That’s what we are trying to make happen for whatever you choose to do for 30 days.
This month I am joining Mrs. Flinger and some other bloggy types in a 30 days of ___? challenge. Choose a habit you would like to pick up, and do it for thirty days. I wish I could say I was choosing exercise, but since my life is super chaotic right now getting the kids ready for back to school, trying to get the house ready to sell, and the ever present alpaca herd that also demands on my time….Anyway I am going to drink a glass of water every day. Simple, but probably a good idea for me since I never drink anything but Diet Coke. (seriously never) I’ve been told my drinking habits aren’t good. Go figure.
So join me in doing something every day for 30 days. This will be fun, and doing it together gives us the support and accountability that helps make a task like this easier to accomplish. Leave a comment if you would like to participate and tell us what you are going to do for thirty days.

Spinning, spinning, spinning! Ok, I got a head start on your 30 Day Challenge but I want to spin good enough on the wool so I can start spinning on my alpaca. Yes, I know I could spin on alpaca now but my Wonder Rovings are too darn precious to waste on inexperienced chunky monkey yarn so I will wait until I can spin nice an consistent on whatever weight I pick. See, big challenge!
Keep posting! Love your blog1

Hiya!
I once wrote 50,000 words of a novel in 30 days with nanowrimo (no kidding. I have proof). So for the next thirty days, I will edit/revise said novel for at least an hour. That will be easy compared to the writing schedule.

Boy, that’s weird, I am doing a 30 day challenge starting today too! I am going to be doing a drawing/piece of art or creative writing a day for a month. August must be the month! Here I thought January was the month to set goals
Ha, ha, ha!

I thought, “30 days of walking” then realized “that’s cheating, you walk the dog every day anyway and love it.” So – 30 days of writing. Actually, I love writing too, but I get frequent writer’s block (writer’s block? for a perfectionist? No! Never!) So, 30 days that I must write for 15 minutes each and every day no matter how banal, no matter how silly, no matter how wandering…

I started my new habit in January — running. The first 30 days are crucial. I remember putting the kids down for a nap, lying on the couch, wanting to take a nap myself, but knowing I was trying to start a new habit. While still half asleep and unmotivated, I laced up my shoes walked out the door and started jogging. I’m so glad I did. It was a turning point in forming my new habit. Thanks for sharing your new habit and best wishes!

That is awesome! Water is sooo important.
Good luck! You will feel so much better. Well, in between the potty breaks anyways.

I forgot two days, so I’m having to do it first thing in the morning. That’s working better. How bout everyone else? How are your 30 day habits coming?
