I do the Kool-Aid method. Since I live in a really small apartment and my boyfriend has weird allergies, I've found the best way to is mix Kool-Aid in a Ziploc bag and set it outside for a few hours. The AZ sun does the rest, even in the winter! The only downside is that the whole piece of roving has to be one color, but that just means I get to mix and match my colors when I spin them.

MonikaRose and Kate - Yes! Dyeing can be really fun. Depending on how you do it it can be a lot of work or not as much.

Vicki and Maple - Thanks for sharing your dyeing tips!

Emily - please blog about and share the sausage method!

Tracy - It's great to meet you too. Sorry about your allergy, but glad you can wear alpaca! And how funny you haven't posted on the felting til now, and we found each other. Hooray for the internet!

G'day, fabulous colors in the last photo. I have not dyed anything. But I remember in school we did fabric dyeing and I like that. I think I twisted the fabric and placed a rubber band around the middle and dyed with few colors. The result was fantastic, circles in the middle and colors around, everyone loved it and they used it as a table cover for displaying of crafts. Now I cannot remember where it went, they probably kept it...as they do with all things that are excellent..anyways check out my new fav fab fingerless gloves...ciao and have a great day :)
