I’ve recently moved to the pacific northwest from Germany. There are alpacas all over the place here, and your carnival finally gave me the excuse to check a farm out and experience these pretty animals for myself! Thanks!

Been to the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. It is the first weekend every May. Lot’s of fun. Went on a bus tour with one of the knitting guilds I belong to. Great fun, execept they tried to go cheap on the bus when we didn’t need to funding wise and the bus was 3 hours late because the driver quit and didn’t tell the company so they thought he was already with us and the bus broke down a couple of hours into the trip from Ohio to Maryland after they did send a new driver to pick us up. Spent the rest of the trip on the bus without the AC so the engine wouldn’t overheat and they never replenished the tp in the on-board bathroom either. But the fiber fest was GREAT!

I had my first fiber festival booth in Liberty, NC a few weeks ago – Rising Meadows Farms’ ‘Farm Fest’. It was LOVELY, and I can’t wait to do more shows in the spring!

Have fun at SAFF – I’m super jealous that I can’t go this year!

I am new to the fiber world… but not new to the livestock world. I used to raise Santa Gertrudis heifers in high school. I will be attending the Taos Fiber Festival next year. I would love to go to an alpaca show though! Where is the one in December? Maybe I will give myself an early Christmas present and make it to that! You could even teach me to show them! I was a fantastic showman, if I do say so myself!

I’ve attended the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival in Jefferson for the past 8 years in a row. It’s always held the weekend after Labor day. I’ve taken many classes there-met fantastic people and added loads to my fiber stash. This year I took a dying class, a long draw apinning class, and a plying class. I also bought my drum carder. Whew! It was quite a weekend. Plus I got to see lamb triplets be born in the sheep barn. It’ll be hard to top that. In 2 weeks I’ll be going to the Wisconsin Spin In in West Bend. I’m taking a drum carding class. I love fiber festivals and wish there were lots more-but not sure the wallet could withstand the workout!! Thanks Katy for the FAF-love it!!

G’day, love the sheep on the gate. I have had sheep they were so friendly, they would put their head on your chest just to get to that piece of food you have. They have all passed on, but well remembered. I have not been to any fiber festivals, yet. But there was a Craft Expo in Melbourne couple of weeks ago, missed that one, maybe next year. I really enjoy chatting about my fiber activities during the week, excellent and thank you for hosting this fiber arts on Fridays, fab idea. Enjoy your weekend. cya MOnikaROse

The sheep climbing the gate really looks familiar..I’ve seen something like that, oh let’s see, everyday. Have fun at SAFF. I’ve been several times and once as a vendor and did quite well I might add. Would go this time but I have to local events I’m participating in next Thurs. & Fri., so I know I’ll be too pooped!

Sorry, my Fiber Arts Friday is a left over from yesterday but there are o-plenty fiber babies in it.

I went to my first Fiber Festival this spring – the Shepherd’s Harvest in Minnesota, and I loved it! I also made sure to check out the fiber offerings at the State Fair this year, which was really fun as I had some friends who were ribbon winners.
