No Hair-Dryers Allowed

When alpaca cria (babies) are born on cold, grey days we usually use a blow-dryer to get them warm, toasty, and dry: ready for the world. Most of their moms are startled at first, but they usually decide it’s okay for me to blow-dry their cria.

Places I never dreamed a hair dryer would venture… that is awesome!
Stop on over for a little breath of mountain air… no hair dryers, here, but definitely scenery an alpaca would love.

We had a couple births here last February (one on Valentine’s Day and one the day after). It was a bit chilly the second day here in So. Calif. so I got the dryer out and gave her a nice little style. See photo of little Pacablanca: http://www.flickr.com/photos/72833572@N00/3285657445/in/set-72157613969660338/

…and the green on the dryer is the Mom showing you she really would rather not have that noisy thing around…..good story though.
