Moments of Happiness

The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us. ~ Ashley Montagu

Love Trumps Problem-Solving

“Never let a problem to be solved
become more important than a person to be loved”.
~Thomas Monson

When we have problems on the farm, it can be hard to prioritize. This quote helps me keep things in perspective.

Shoot for the Moon

“SHOOT FOR THE MOON

Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” ~ Unknown

Occasionally I like to look at my husband’s monument. The big one in Normandy, France. The one on Utah Beach that honors all the Navy men who served their country there on D-Day sixty-five years ago.

We spent years doing the struggling artist thing. Believing in his talent. Before he could become an “overnight success”. We never stopped dreaming, shooting for the moon.

I’ve never met a person with more stick-to-it-iveness than my husband the Sculptor. He’s so inspiring when he tells people to Do Your Dream. To see more of Steve’s work visit Spears Creative Studios.

Ordinary Acts of Coolness

webfarmkids06

The ordinary acts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest.

~ Thomas Moore

Note: Watering alpacas’ bellies in the Summer keeps them cool. Watering your sister…well, I guess that’s just fun.

You Must See the Alpemu!

A ranch visitor hand feeding bugs to an alpemu

After our talk about the differences between alpacas and emus, I thought I would share an instance in which these animals put their differences aside, creating a highly prized NEW breed of livestock.

Livestock of the Future – Introducing the

Alpemu!

This is THE Livestock Opportunity You’ve Been Waiting for. We’re proud to introduce you to – The Alpemu! It has many benefits as compared to other livestock:

  • It doesn’t spit like an alpaca or llama
  • With it’s pea sized brain, it’s not smart enough to get out of the paddocks.
  • Because the front and rear legs do not match, they are really slow and easy to catch.
  • 1 cria and 52 eggs a year!
  • Eats hay, snails, slugs, flies, bees, ticks, and table scraps.
  • Fiber for the quilt AND Feathers for the pillow!
  • Powerful front legs can kill a dog or coyote, off load them with confidence at rest areas.

Of course there is a registry. Much simpler than the Alpaca Registry. Click here for more details.

Thanks to Rick Horn of All American Alpacas for allowing us to publish this on Alpaca Farmgirl. Rick is the mastermind behind the Alpemu. We have him to blame thank for this parody. Disclaimer: This is NOT real. No alpacas or emus were harmed in the process of photoshopping this blog.

There are a total of 4 Ways to Enter to win, and everyone is eligible. You can enter as many ways as you like. Each method of entry = 1 entry into the contest. Here’s how:

1. Visit our Alpaca Sales list and then leave a comment answering this question: If you had got to have one of these pacas in your backyard, which one would you choose?
