I am embarrassed to admit that it has been almost two years since we purchased our new (much larger) farm in Tennessee. We bought it with the idea that we would come home to Alabama, put our alpaca farm on the market, and move to Tennessee. We were hoping it would take a year or [...]
This month’s Alpaca Farmgirl Interview is with long-time Alpaca Breeder and Fiber Artist Sherry Watkins of Frostglen Alpacas. Sherry and her husband, Bill run a herd of around 80 suri and huacaya alpacas in Tennessee.
Q: How did you learn about alpacas?
A: I fell in love with an alpaca sweater in London. The feel of it was so glorious. It [...]

This Thanksgiving, I find myself grateful that I have found my niche in life. An unlikely farmer, I adore raising alpacas on our ten acre farm. A former pychologist, I am so happy to be home now raising my four children. After years of struggling, I am thankful that my DH, the Artist, is now [...]
a stray cat leaves kittens in your barn. This is the type of thing that never happened to me when I was growing up in a house in a neighborhood. Random creatures taking up residence? How unusual, and fun! We once had a possum that liked to live on our porch eating our cats’ food [...]
Rainy Day on the Farm
